For over 100 years, Baudouin has designed and manufactured the highest quality diesel engines for marine and power generation applications globally
Baudouin 640kW Diesel Engine
The Baudouin 6M31G725/5 is characterised by massive structural engineering margins, introducing a giant 18.5-litre displacement configuration with a large-scale 149mm x 177mm bore and stroke profile. Operating on a 14:1 compression ratio optimised for high-density electronic common rail thermal loads, the robust cast-iron mono-block utilises a 24-valve overhead configuration (4 valves per cylinder) to facilitate lightning-fast volumetric air changes. This rigid block architecture isolates extreme cylinder pressures reaching an intense 27.7 Bar BMEP (Brake Mean Effective Pressure) under full emergency load, ensuring long-term structural integrity.
Industrial Power Architecture & Reliability
This multi-cylinder platform introduces unparalleled mechanical torque stability to absorb massive inductive load steps from heavy machinery, automated data centres, and industrial processing plants. Incorporating an air-to-air charge air cooling matrix, the intake charge temperature is dropped significantly before combustion, which preserves internal valve seating and prevents the cylinder head warping associated with inferior, over-stressed engine blocks. The streamlined external design minimises loose plumbing links, vastly lowering field upkeep demands for site engineers.
Baudouin 640kWm Engine Technical Features
ECU Common Rail Efficiency: Utilises an electronic engine management system alongside high-pressure common rail injection to achieve flawless throttle adaptation and minimal fuel mist waste.
Massive Industrial Oil Sump: Features an expansive lubrication network holding up to 60 Litres of engine oil, supporting an exceptional oil flow rate of 295 L/min to keep internal journals protected.
High-Volume Radiator Array: The fully integrated mechanical cooling package holds 60 Litres of coolant, backed by a 17 kW belt-driven pusher fan designed to combat severe 50°C summer ambient heat waves.
10 kW Cranking Performance: Employs a heavy-duty 24Vdc negative-to-ground electrical starter framework with a 10 kW motor and an 80 Amp charging alternator for bulletproof automated grid coupling.
Extreme Weather Tolerance: Natively refined to ensure unassisted mechanical firing down to minus 10°C, extending down to a freezing minus 40°C utilising specialised auxiliary starting devices.
